Language tourism: inequality in foreign language learning

Abstract

The research presented in these letters focuses on language tourism, which refers to the displacement made by an individual from his country of origin to another for the learning and / or improvement of a language different from his own; due to the lack, at times, of opportunities to do so in your country. The methodology of this study is qualitative and is carried out by carrying out the interview technique, which has as an instrument a script of structured open questions, which are divided into: opportunities and limitations that those who have been part of this phenomenon have found. The participants of this research are three, who with their answers allowed to know some situations that directly impact their learning process and allow us to compare it with those who have the opportunity to improve in the language in other circumstances. The conclusion of this work is about the analysis of the discourse in the results, which throw their answers on the decisions that sometimes students must make to improve their language skills, and how moving to another country implies limitations and opportunities according to their experience taking into account the return to their country of origin and apply the knowledge acquired in it.
